How to Train Your Dragon, etc.

(Artwork: DreamWorks)

Ordinarily each entry of this blog will cover just a day or two, but we're catching up a little bit here.  Under each title I tell you when and how I watched it.

Friday April 23, FearNet On Demand
Well made, as maniac kid movies go.  The cinematography, for example, is first rate, and the writing isn’t bad.
Saturday April 24 FearNet On Demand
This one has a TV movie feel: almost no gore, and no scares at all.  Mildly interesting, sort of clever, but you may not think the punchline is worth the wait.

Sunday April 25, in theater, in Real D 3D
The script is as good as the animation.  Highly recommended. Click the character names at IMDB to see the voice actors standing next to their alter egos.
The Daily Show, aired April 26 on Comedy Central
Tuesday April 27, DVR
Great segment on Arizona’s new immigration law.  On Wednesday I submitted a sample blog entry on it to an online publication.

Update: The blog entry.
The Colbert Report, aired April 26 on Comedy Central
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings sound like they should.  “She Ain’t a Child No More” is sung to the abusive mother of a girl who’s gotten too tough to beat.
American Idol, aired April 27 on Fox
Tuesday April 27, DVR
All six did well, with the possible exception of Siobhan.  (The judges thought she was “fantastic.”)
House, “Open and Shut,” aired April 26 on Fox
April 27, 2010, DVR
A patient’s open marriage is used to explore themes of love, honesty and the fulfillment of needs; House sees Wilson’s relationship and Taub’s marriage through this prism.  Great writing, full of complexity and ambiguity, as always.
